New Battlefield 3 ‘My Life’ Trailer and 12 minutes of Gameplay!
On Friday EA and DICE released their new Trailer ‘My Life’ for upcoming title Battlefield 3. The trailer features gameplay footage and gives us a quick peek into some of the action on the ground and in the skies.
Battlefield 3 It is to be released on November 2, 2011 for PC, PS3, and 360 and has been hyped because of the introduction of Frostbite™ 2, the next instalment of DICE’s cutting-edge game engine.
Battlefield has always had a strong multiplayer experience but adding to the single player mode (that I always prefer) this time a new animation system will allow players to “drag fallen comrades into safety and mount weapons on almost any part of the terrain”.
Update: You can also head on over to Battlefield.com to watch the 12 minute ‘Faultline’ trailer which gives you a more extensive look at gameplay or check it out below!
So tell me, will you be making the switch from your current FPS in November?
XBLA Deals You Wont Want to Miss!
A glimpse of an upcoming deal flowed through my twitter feed today. Upon further research and confirmation from http://majornelson.com/ early reports appear to be true. This Friday a slew of XBLA titles will be available at 50% OFF.

Friday April 15th 2011 you can get the following titles at bargain prices:
- Limbo – 600 pts
- Castle Crashers – 600 pts
- Shadow Complex – 600 pts
- Trials HD – 600 pts

Now I’ve already purchased the first 3 titles, which I highly recommended, but with a deal like this I may not be able to pass up the purchase of a 4th or possible 5th addition to the collection.
If i had to recommended just one.. it would probably be Limbo, or Shadow Complex, you really can’t go wrong. I reviewed Limbo when it first came out for GirlGamer.com.. You can read that review HERE.
No matter what your genre is, these are quality titles at a fantastic price. So dust off your MS points and don’t miss out!

Call me Princess! Cool Princesses in Video Games.
Top ten Princesses it would be cool to be.
You know how the cliché goes: every little girl dreams of growing up to become a princess.
*cue rainbows and harpsichords*
Being a princess means a fairly tale wedding or lineage appointed royalty and it is usually associated with attitudes of entitlement or helplessness. But not all princesses are created equal. Here’s a list of ten princesses who are as cool as the other side of the pillow.
Challenge: Can you name the game that each princess first appears in? Extra bragging rights if you know the game AND system.

Quality Time With Twisted Pixel!
Crowds of people lining the booth and aisles subject to overflow, all eyes were glued to the big screen for The Gunstringer and Ms Splosion Man were in the spotlight at Twisted Pixel’s booth at Pax East. Fresh off the heels of GDC in San Francisco, Twisted Pixel was going strong and bringing all sorts of fun to the east coast!
I stopped by for a while and got the chance to play Ms Splosion Man, watch their timed tourney (in which they gave away an exclusive Ms. Splosion Man console) and ask Twisted Pixel’s Jay Stuckwisch a few questions about the upcoming titles.
Exclusive console giveaway at the Twisted Pixel booth.
You guys were just at GDC with these games?
Jay: Yeah, we were! Mike and Josh went out. Mainly they were just showing off Ms Splosion Man but they did have Gun there as well. We showed Gun off at the showcase event the weekend before.
Well there is a HUGE reception here at your booth and packed every time I come by. Are you finding that the people here at PAX have been exceptionally receptive or is just everyone loving what you guys are doing?
Jay: It seems like everyone has been really super excited! The showcase event really helped a lot with Gun. I think a lot of people maybe kind of didn’t ‘get it’ you know. And then once people actually saw the game play and how people were responding to it, it really, the fans have just been awesome. And we are really proud of that. For both games!
Okay, I have to ask. So, Ms Splosion Man – is she the next leading female heroine?
Jay: You know what? I would LOVE to think so because she’s pretty awesome to me.

Meet OZIE!
(A personal blog post that crept over to my gaming blog ;-D )

Meet OZIE! My very first pokemon.
So here’s the story.
- A looong time ago I rode around in a yellow car that belonged to a friend of mine. She had a pikachu on the dash. We were bad ass. (Circa 2002)
- A number of years ago I made an attempt to play a pokemon game on the DS(I cant remember which one but it was circa 2004) and was met with ridicule.
- Some years later (maybe 2008) a young lad with special needs was in my care and invited me to play pokemon (with trading cards) and I of course did so. A few times.
That’s it! I have never played my way through a game, I never watched the cartoon, I never felt it was anything I could get into.
Until PaxEast 2011. All the folks in line were playing either Pokemon or Magic the Gathering. Not being even remotely familiar with Magic, and being continuously exposed to the excitement of the new Black and White releases of Pokemon, I decided to veer towards the path of Pokemon.
I’m about 4 days into it. 6 badges and a Pokedex of 81 and you know what. “Screw YOU” to the person who first mocked me, causing my insecurities to keep me from it.
I like it.
I can see why so many people, young and old, enjoy the game. It’s super addictive AND cutesy. A REAL departure from the killing and violence i normally prefer in my games.
I plan to spend a bit more time collecting and battling Pokemon in the future, slowly washing away the shame I STILL feel as a 30yr old playing pokemon.
And as homer once said (the cartoon not the greek poet) “Yes I AM the highly suggestible type!”
Quick Poll.
I am fairly certain that I am pretty much ready to begin a venture I have affectionately dubbed…
The NES Challenge
The parameters of said challenge are being fine tuned and will be revealed in the coming days. Rest assured that while I undertake this challenge I will be keeping keen notes and sharing them via that little tab at the top.
In preparation for my project inauguration I have a quick question for the 5 or 6 of you who visit this top secret gaming blog of mine. Please feel free to answer in a reply to this post. Your response will first come to me so if you would like to remain anonymous or would rather it didn’t show up please type ANONYMOUS in your response and it will stay just between you and me. 😉
Ready?
What was your favorite and/or most memorable NES game from your youth?
(meaning it was such when you were such)
Thank you in advance to all who participate! If you happen to be following me on twitter please feel free to answer there if you prefer!

PAX EAST ’11: Super Street Fighter IV For Nintendo 3DS
During my recent visit to PAX East in Boston, I had the opportunity to get my hands on the Nintendo 3DS and play a quick game of Super Street Fighter IV – 3D.
With an incredibly ridiculous line of people waiting to try out the 3DS handheld device at the Nintendo booth, a great tip led us to the Capcom booth – which contained a 3DS demo of Super Street Fighter IV.
Because the game has been released on both the 360 and PS3, I suspect the 3D adaptation of the title (which will release at launch of the newest handheld by Nintendo), was slightly overlooked.
